Eunice Walker Johnson

She was called the Queen of Ebony Fashion Fair. She is also credited with giving Ebony magazine its name. Eunice Johnson, who was the wife of the late John H. Johnson, founder and publisher of Ebony and Jet magazine, showed the world the beauty of black women.She was the creative force behind the cosmetics line, Ebony Fashion Fair, and its traveling fashion show with featured black models who sashayed and danced down the runway. The show brought high fashion to black communities all over the country.

Dolman sleeves, sometimes called batwing sleeves, are sleeves that are cut deep and wide at the shoulder, with armholes extending almost to the waist. The sleeves taper to the wrist, and when the arms are held outward the fabric hangs in a long wing. Unlike set-in sleeves, dolman sleeves are usually cut as one piece with the top of a dress, blouse, jacket, or coat. Full and roomy, the sweeping sleeve had been used for women’s clothing since around 1910 but reached a peak of popularity in the early 1940s

HBCVintage TADA Fashion Show

HBCVintage was honored to be choosen to be apart of ” The Appropiate Dress Attire” Werk Fashion Show  along with other boutique’s Mahogany Me and Poor Little Rich Girl  held at the Cosby lobby on Spelman campus. This was a monumental show because due to the ongoing controversary surronding the views of the dress attire on the local college campus. HBCVintage  defintely came and  Werk the runway with our vintage collection’s. HBCVintage believe in our youth and supporting  them in the best way possible.
